Concerts are held on first Friday of the month

OUR AUGUST CONCERT

WITH ANDREW NIX

    Andrew Nix at Woodhall Spa

Our audience had a real treat this month when Andrew Nix came to play for us. He played a superb evening of various styles of music and carried the audience with him all the way.

He opened with a terrific medley of Shadows music, all played in the Shadows style. We then had some music composed by Bill Owen of “Last of the Summer Wine” fame followed by Pretty Woman and other Roy Orbison tunes. There was Beatles music, “The Sabre Dance” and a lovely medley of John Barry music including “Out of Africa” and “Dancing with Wolves”. The first half was rounded off with “The Clarinet Polka”.

The second half started with “Sweet Caroline” follwed by “Gabriel’s Oboe” and “Once Upon a Time in the West!” by Morricone. There was “Highland Cathedral”, a great Elvis Presley medley and the evening concluded with some Rock and Roll and a Neil Sedaka medley culminating in the “Flic Flac Polka”. Andrew was really on top form and carried the audience with him, giving us a truly memorable concert.

Our concert next month will be played by Brett Wales and takes place on Friday, September 5th at Coronation Hall, Spa Road, Woodhall Spa, LN10 6PZ. We look forward to seeing you all.
