OUR JANUARY CONCERT WITH JOHN COOPER
John Cooper playing at Woodhall Spa
John Cooper opened the 2019 season at Woodhall Spa. John plays the Yamaha Stagea
and gets the very best from the instrument. His entire performance is live with
no multi tracking in sight. His performance is further enhanced by Video clips provided
by his Dad, which accompany many of the items. He used both our video screen and
their own to show the keyboard and pedal board on one screen and the video clip on
the other. When there was no video clip, one screen showed the keyboards and the
other displayed the pedal board.
John played a wide variety of musical styles during the evening. We had medleys
of Walt Disney music, John Lennon's "Imagine", music from "Les Miserables", "Tico
Tico", Ragtime, a beautiful rendering of "The Rose" in the style of Andre Rieu, a
fantastic performance of music from "Pirates of the Caribbean" and "1492" . The highlight
for many of us was "Heykens Serenade", demonstrating achieving the triple tonguing
technique used by Trumpeters performed on the organ. This was Jon's first visit to
Woodhall Spa and our audience were totally enthralled by his performance and look
forward to welcoming him back for a return visit..
Our February concert will be given by Kevin Grunill. Last year Kevin had to cancel
his visit to Woodhall Spa due to surgery on his back. He is now fully recovered and
we look forward to welcoming him back. The concert takes place on Tuesday evening
19th February, at St Peter's Hall, The Broadway, Woodhall Spa, LN10 6ST, starting
at 7.30 pm. Admission for visitors is £7.00. Further information is available from
the Chairman Philip Groves on 01526 353225.
