OUR JUNE CONCERT
WITH MARK THOMPSON
Mark Thompson at Woodhall Spa
A good sized audience turned out to see Mark Thompson, in the sure knowledge they would have a good evening of music. They were not wrong and Mark played an absolutely superb evening of music covering an incredibly wide range of styles.
He opened with "The Bright Side of Life" from the Monty Python film and followed with "Manhattan". Then came some love songs and a medley of colours which included "Yellow Submarine", "Blue Moon", "Lady in Red" etc. He finished his first half with some Rock and Roll including "Rock Around the Clock" and "Blue Suede Shoes". The second half commenced with "Alexander's Ragtime Band" and "The Saints Go Marching In". Some Tango muisic followed before a couple of pieces associated with Andre Rieu, which included "And the Waltz Goes On" and "The Second Waltz" by Shostokovitch. "Five Finger Boogie" followed played with amazing dexterity. He played a Musicals medley including music from "My Fair Lady, "The King and I" etc. and concluded the evening with a Rock and Roll medley. Our audience thoroughly enjoyed Mark's concert and we all look forward to welcoming him back to Woodhall Spa next year!
Next month our concert, which is on Friday July 3rd will be given by Rod Pooley and promises to be another great night of music. We look forward to seeing you all there, so do make a note in your diary for 7.30pm on Friday July 3rd. at Coronation Hall, Spa Road, Woodhall Spa, LN10 6PZ.
